Yeast cell factory for mRNA bioproduction

Yscript Innovations Featured by Innovation Radar

We are proud and happy to announce that the EC Innovation Radar featured two of the innovations developed in Yscript on their Innovation Radar Platform recently:

Using ionic liquids and producing monoliths, the Yscript partners are working on stable chromatographic conditions to develop a process for extraction and purification that is not only integrated but also more cost-effective than the state of the art. Despite being still in a very early stage, the Innovation Radar earmarked this process developed by our partners University of Beira Interior (UBI), University of Aveiro (UAVR) and our Coordinator University of Orléans (UO), as a key innovation with a high market potential and the potential for standardisation.

This innovation is generating yeast strains that highly express and specifically address mRNA-GOI (gene of interest) that are efficiently translated and amplified in mammalian cells. mRNA (1 & 10kb) coding reporter proteins will be bioproduced.

For both innovations, women are in a leading positions – Chantal Pichon, our Coordinator is working closely together with Mara Freire (UAVR), Fani Sousa (UBI), Kasia Pachulska-Wieczorek (Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences) and Fayza Daboussi (Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, l’Alimentation et l’Environnement).

The Innovation Radar is a European Commission initiative set out to identify high potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded research and innovation projects. The platform is intended to be easily accessible to stakeholders ranging from citizens to business persons who are interested in discovering the outputs of innovative research in Europe. You will easily find the Yscript innovations by typing “Yscript” in the search field on the Innovation Radar homepage.

Innovation Radar Bridge will focus on strengthening connections between EU-funded innovators, European investors, and policymakers in EU member states.
