Yscript Consortium Gathers in Mainz to Shape the Final Stretch

As the Yscript project enters its final months, partners from across Europe convened in Mainz on 17 - 18 June for their third and final progress meeting to review scientific achievements, refine strategies, and prepare for the project’s conclusion in September. Hosted by project partner TRON at the historic Erbacher Hof in Mainz’s charming old town, the meeting provided an ideal setting for focused discussions and renewed collaboration.

Day One: Scientific Progress and Expert Feedback

The first day of the meeting centred on scientific progress across the project’s work packages. Project coordinator Prof. Chantal Pichon (University of Orléans) presented an overview of the consortium’s achievements to date, followed by updates from each partner on their latest research results and promising milestones.

A particular highlight was the engagement with the project’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). Both SAB members attended the meeting in person, providing valuable feedback to ensure that the final months of Yscript stay firmly aligned with the project’s scientific objectives.

The day concluded with a lively consortium dinner in the heart of Mainz – an ideal opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen the collaborative spirit that has characterised Yscript from the start.

Day Two: Strategy, Impact, and Looking Ahead

The second day focused on strategic aspects of the project, including management, communication, dissemination and the future exploitation of Yscript’s results. A dedicated workshop on intellectual property (IP) management provided practical guidance to safeguard the project’s innovations and support their potential translation into real-world applications.

In parallel, project partner EURICE captured impressions for the upcoming Yscript results video. Interviews with partners highlighted not only the scientific progress achieved, but also the enthusiasm and shared vision that continue to drive the consortium forward.

A Strong Finish in Sight

With its conclusion approaching, the Mainz meeting marked an important milestone for Yscript. Through open exchange, expert guidance, and renewed momentum, the consortium is well positioned to bring this pioneering project to a successful close – advancing the development of yeast-based mRNA production and contributing to Europe’s leadership in cutting-edge biotechnology.
